There are days where, despite one's best efforts, nothing seems to happen. Typically these are gloomy days, like today, a sickly gray haze that chills you and removes the joy from the day itself.Sitting in my car and watching people flit in and out of a shopping plaza, I ask myself, "Where are they all going? There is nothing happening.".
The supermarket employee standing out front of the store is smoking. He stands still for a time, his cloud of toxin blending with the already washed out sky, before dropping it to the floor, still smoldering, and going out to the lot to collect errant carts. One at a time.
And then comes the old man who looks a good 110 years old, complete with felt hat, getting assistance with groceries loaded into his car. He drives! And he is happy that he is going nowhere fast.
