Maybe I am just getting older, but what I see going in and out of schools is nothing to take pride in. Groups of students looking like thugs, unkempt, hair that defies explanation and clothing that either looks unwashed, ill-fitting, and soured expressions that hardly show any enthusiasm except at the misfortune of others...

OK O My Gosh. I have been complaining about this for years. The school is not going to get the kids to change their attitude though until the Parents change THEIRS. My children are not even allowed to ware high heals. I cringe when I see a nicely dressed woman or man bring their child in dressed dress like hoods or super star models and they are only 3. We as teachers used to send notes home ALL the time "PLEASE DRESS YOUR CHILDREN APPROPRIATELY" It seemed as though parents thought we were only talking to the families that could not afford a $100 for a pair of shoes. Well what good is that $100 pair of shoe if the child can not play in them. I had a rule in my child care that if they brought their child inappropriately dressed they would have to change into my children's clothes. To many times girls showed up in little skirts with NOTHING but panties under them. Or kids would ware flip flops and WHO can run and play in flip flops. I once knew a beautiful young lady that landed THE PERFECT JOB for a teenager. She made $10 per hour walking around a store wearing their clothes as advertisement. The only catch was that she could not wear nail polish or jewelry. The store wanted the clothes to sale themselves. Her mom took her to get fake nails and had both fingers and toes painted BLUE. When the store told her she would have to take it off the mother told her to stop working there they had no right to tell her what she could wear!! That was her job. We as parents need to hold our children to a higher standard if we expect them to achieve in higher levels. Sorry but I feel soooo bad for children who learn that people should except them NO MATTER WHAT! I do not even hush my children if they see these people dress like this. Mind you I do not allow them to JUDGE people but when we dress like negatively we should expect people to say negative things!!!!
Bottom line. Children are dressing like tramps. Don't know when it started, maybe with Madonna (the performer)? That's my generation. What child didn't want to look like Brittney Spears not too long ago? Morales and wholesome values have disintegrated.
Parents have to actually care. Sadly, so many parents don't.
