Hi Andre- I tried to start a discussion on the MDUSD blog about using STAR test scores on college transcripts. The idea was floated at a recent Pleasant Hill Education Commission meeting as a way to get more kids who are college bound to take the test.
I completely understand the vicious cycle that administrators are in when it comes to funding and school status under NCLB, but I don't think telling kids that we are going to have yet another multiple choice test as an indicator of their college fitness is fair.
Your post gave good specifics as to why it isn't a good idea.
Cindy,
Please help my understand. Exactly what would be the purpose and what would be gained by taking the STAR an additional year??? Isn't ten years of standardized testing enough to paint a vague picture of a student?
