A PLEA FROM AN ANGRY TEACHER - PINK SLIPS ARE PAINFUL AND A GET OUT OF JAIL CARD FOR STATE PRISONERS. COME VISIT THE PENAL COLONY KNOWN AS "KALIFORNIA!" THANKS GOV!

I received this email from an MDUSD teacher, but did not want to print the teacher's name without permission, so I have left it off and removed any reference that would identify her.  The reason I wanted to post it was to show the pain and the frustration that is being felt across the state.

This week, the state plans to release thousands of non-violent prisoners, paying them $200 each and hoping that they will disappear somewhere. At the same time, the subject of no longer prosecuting misdemeanors is close to approval, which means any of those prisoners who commit a non-violent crime... won't be prosecuted. What a wonderful "Get Out Of Jail" card the state has developed. And all because the idiots that run things can't represent us. Are we being represented?

Soon, I expect that households will arm themselves so that people can protect their families, and vigilante justice may well prevail if the legal system takes a holiday on their prior glut of prosecutions.

pinkfriday Back to the teacher's email... This is beyond a crisis. This is the beginning of a downward spiral that if not stopped, will drag the remnants of civilization down.  Anyone read

The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire lately?

The teacher's email...

"Hello everyone,
To tell you the truth I do not know who is receiving this email so I apologize ahead of time if you don't want it but I am ANGRY and you should be too!!!! I received my pink slip today along with 29,000+ other California teachers...600 of which are from my school district!!!! I have a fanatical passion for teaching in a society which has little to no regards for an excellent education! What is wrong with us? I am also a single mom raising three beautiful, intelligent (children) and believe they should have an excellent education.

People make claims of investing in our future - OUR KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE...I do NOT see enough investment being made!!! The school where I teach has about 2,000 students. Our Principal and VP's all received pink slips! My child's elementary school of over 800 students will not have a VP next year - That is ridiculous!

Last week we were told we cannot order any more supplies and to make it through with what we have as all our monies, the little we have, have been frozen.

Our sports programs at our school are in jeopardy. Our electives are in jeopardy. Our libraries are in jeopardy. Class size reduction is in jeopardy (some levels already were impacted last year)! My class size maximum is already at 37 high school students per period. Can you imagine your child taking high school (classes) with say 45 students or better yet 50?  37 is already too much! What is wrong with our state?

Did you know that California is 47th in our nation for funding to schools???? THAT is RIDICULOUS! The students are not going away...The students still need an excellent education...Our future is in jeopardy!!! Does any of this make you as angry as I feel???? If you think this doesn't affect you, you are WRONG.

Think about why our country has to  spend so much money building bigger prisons...Perhaps having a better opportunity in our schools to provide a better education might help!! Everyone living in California should feel responsible to help change this system NOW!

Are you willing to do something, anything about it???

Write your legislators, the Governor, plan a march in Sacramento, talk to everyone you know who can also do something about it. Spread the word: SAVE our SCHOOLS...Enough is ENOUGH! All these budget cuts hurt everyone...If you haven't felt it yet, you will...PLEASE ACT NOW!"

Thank you for posting this. I am not a teacher, but I completely support our teacher. Education should be a priority. Other than voting for the parcel tax, what can a regular person even do about this crisis?

It is such a shame, makes me want to move far away.

"what can a regular person even do about this crisis?" - first step is to vote every incumbent out of office, from the local level all the way up to the national level. these crooks have gotten us into this horrible mess and they do not care! it's time for all of us to say "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any longer!" we need normal people in office, not greed mongering professional politicans.
