Tomorrow the Special Election will show the minds of the voters of the state. With bad news on the budget scene if the Props pass and dire news if they do not, one thing is certain; the state does not function in a healthy way. Rising on this election locally is Measure D, the MDUSD funding measure that will offset the horrors of budget cuts to the tune of thirty million over the past few years, and promising to return high school athletics, teachers and programs that otherwise seem doomed. Even with the portent of some cash flow from the measure, teachers are being warned to expect potentially more layoffs during the summer. Whatever you do, however you feel about the issues or the propositions, be sure to cast your vote tomorrow and have your voice heard. Whatever the end result, change will come. Change must come. I am voting against all the propositions except 1F and probably also against Measure D.
Only when the state legislature starts making significant budget cuts will I vote for another tax increase.
As far as MDUSD goes, as long as the CTA is around I won't vote for more money for the schools.
I'm sorry to read this because CTA are not the only people in the district that work with students. There are many of us that have direct contact every day in to many ways to write down. I can understand how you feel about the State its a shame how low we have sunk when in comes to education. I will vote for Measure D and I can be exempt. I think this BOE is trying very hard to get things together, but it's hard when you don't have enough money to take care of some of the basics . So I will vote yes so we can get a little bit back on the road to recovery. And then start on the State about how disgraceful it is in way education is treated
